S.Q.O.T. initiative
Standardizing Quality of life measures in Obesity Treatment
NEWS:
The S.Q.O.T. initiative was chosen by the European Association for Study of Obesity (EASO) to organize a symposium during the European Congress on Obesity (ECO), 17th May 2023 in Dublin.
The title of the symposium:
Integrating the patients’ perspective in obesity care: using patient-reported outcome measures in clinical practices, research and registries.
The S.Q.O.T. initiative was established to Standardize Quality of life measures in Obesity Treatment.
Our non-profit organization is the result of an international collaboration of people living with obesity and healthcare professionals working in the field of obesity. We aim to achieve a global consensus regarding the key components of Quality of Life in the treatment of obesity and the preferred Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to capture this information.
To achieve this goal, we conducted the first interdisciplinary consensus meeting on PROMs in obesity treatment in 2019, connecting people living with obesity and healthcare providers. Recently the second and third S.Q.O.T. consensus meetings were held. In these meetings two standard sets of PROMs were made:
1. a set to measure quality of life in research
2. a set to measure quality of life in clinical practice
We expect to publish our results in 2023.
